Donkey Dreamland Rescue Centre
Donkey Dreamland rescue centre is a Donkey refuge that provides these ‘beasts of burden’ with a pain free caring home for the rest of their lives. Your host will share the center's story and introduce you to some of the donkeys. The aim of the sanctuary is to not only care for these much put-upon animals, but also to educate and highlight their plight.
Many of the animals are injured, have been mistreated or arrived ill, here they are provided with the medical treatment and cared for whilst they recover. Then just as important, the centre tries its best to find them a new, safe forever home.
You can take a Donkey Walk or 30-minute guided tour where you will be introduced to the animals, hear their stories and learn how you can help. It’s a great experience for kids, who could learn how to groom and pet the animals. The centre is closed on Mondays, check the website for opening hours and booking info.

There is something magical about getting close to dolphins (and whales) which makes a taking a dolphin watching boat trip a must-do whilst on the Costa del Sol. There are a number of operators offering trips, from private charters, to catamarans and yacht trips, offering you the change to head out to sea to observe these wonderful creatures. The most popular ports to take a trip are from Estepona, Marbella, Fuengirola and Benalmadena. The best sightings can be seen in the Straight of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, where you can spot common and bottlenose dolphins, and long-fin whales.

La Concha Mountain Trek
There can’t be a more iconic site than Marbella’s La Concha Mountain, nor a more beautiful mountain route to climb. As you traverse towards the 1,215 metres peak, you can marvel at the wonderous view across Marbella, the sea and North Africa. There is a small mountain hut located at the foot of the mountain, from here you’ll start the 7.5 kilometres trek, traversing dense forests and rocky outcrops. For a healthy, experienced hiker, it should take around 6 hours. There are two main routes, the first starts Istan and the second at Refugio de Juanar, which offers closer parking which is essential after such a strenuous day! Both routes are only suitable for the experienced hiker, and it is better to start this expedition very early in the morning to avoid being caught in the midday sun, take plenty of water and snacks.
